Blockade: Police files FIR

SHILLONG, JULY 12: The Ri Bhoi police have filed an FIR against leaders of the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) for the throwing petrol bomb on a truck and pelting of stones during the first day of the two days night road blockade in Ri Bhoi district.

Miscreants on Thursday night threw petrol in a truck in Umsning that led to the injury of the driver and the handyman, besides innumerable incidents of pelting of stones in several parts of the district.

The police also raided the houses of the RBYF leaders but all of them have gone into hiding.

RI Bhoi SP CVS Reddy informed this website that five boys- two from Umiam and three from Byrnihat were picked up by the police on suspicion for their involvement in Thursday night violent incidents but they were found to be innocent and were released on bonds.

The RBYF has called for two days night road blockage in Ri-Bhoi district from where the national highways passes through to put pressure on the government to reinstated two casual workers of the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) office located in the district.
