BSF rescued 4 minors from drowning at Lyngkhat

SHILLONG, MAY 3: Four minors were rescued by the Border Security Force (BSF) from drowning while they were swimming on Thursday.

BSF officials informed that the four minors were swimming in the Khuri near the BOP at Lyngkhat in East Khasi Hills District.

Suddenly due to incessant rain the water level of the nullah increased with high current, drifting the four minors alongwith the flow of water current to a state of drowning so the minors shouted for help, they said.

The sentinels of border consisting of 1 officer and 13 others on hearing them shout immediately jumped into the river braving the high current and rescued all four minors from drowning.

The rescued minors were identified as Master Leading Stone (6), Master Abhijeet (7), Master Tranky (5) and Master Barik (16), all are residents of Lyngkhat village.

BSF troops inspite of its busy schedule maintaining the Border and despite large number of its troops deployed in internal security duties i.e General Parliamentary Election, Law and Order etc have done a recommendable job by rendering their valuable service.

The local and civil administration appreciated Border Security Force for this timely and appreciable help in saving precious human life and rendering much needed first aid in a remote terrain.
