SHILLONG, APR 23: The BSNL has lodged an FIR after its two pillars that cater to landline, broadband connection and lease services were uprooted by the JCB Machine in-front of the MUDA complex on Monday night. The dismantling of the two pillars has affected the landlines and broadband connection in the entire Khyndailad area.

On Tuesday afternoon the Sub-Divisional Engineer phones (Central) SR Sen lodged an FIR in this regard.  He told reporter that the two pillars were uprooted by JCB Machine on Monday night.

The two pillars were situated inside the MUDA complex where a shopping mall is under construction.

According to Sen, the MUDA authorities who are constructing the mall had asked the BSNL authority to remove the pillars one year ago and steps for removing the two pillars were being taken.

Sen said, “We were coordinating to remove the pillars and actions were being taken to shift the pillars to a nearby site as it is a technical work and it does take time.”

However, BSNL had rude shock on Tuesday when their connections, landline and broadband,  were not working as the pillars had already been removed.

Sen informed that around one thousand land lines and eight hundred broadband, besides number of banks leased lines have been affected due to the uprooting of the pillar.

Sen also said that the department has lose two lakhs rupees beside the compensation it has to pay to the subscribers.- By Our Reporter
