Petrol with banned notes

SHILLONG, NOV 10: Thre public sector oil marketing companies – Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC), HPCL and BPCL- on Thursday assured the public that every petrol/CNG station and LPG distributorship across the country would continue to accept the banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes for all fuel and related product purchases.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the state level coordinator, Meghalaya SS Thangkhiew said that the consumers would be welcomed to purchase all products from the outlets of the three public sector oil companies till the midnight of November 11 with Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes.

The three oil companies also re-assured the customers regarding continuous and sustained availability of all petroleum products from their outlets across the country.

They have also urged the customers to avoid unnecessarily stock up petroleum products and purchase quantities to fulfill their immediate needs only. The oil companies also appealed to all customers to extend cooperation to ensure a smooth transition to the new currency system.-By Our Reporter
