CBI submits report into police job scam

police1SHILLONG, OCT 24: The CBI on Monday submitted two sealed envelopes containing the final enquiry report into the alleged manipulation in the recruitment of Meghalaya Police Service (MPS) officers before the Meghalaya high court.

The CBI probe was ordered after a petition was filed by one of the candidates, Millon Ch, Momin, into the alleged manipulation in the recruitment to fill up 34 posts of MPS officer under Home (Police) department.

During the hearing held on Monday, senior counsel, VK Jindal produced before the Meghalaya High Court two sealed envelopes said to contain the final enquiry report by the CBI.

During the course of submissions, it was also noticed that the other envelopes containing the documents/sheets/material supplied to the CBI were not produced.

On this, the senior counsel, VK Jindal asked from the high court for some more time and thereafter produced three envelopes said to be the entire materials that was supplied to the CBI from the Registry.

With the hearing remains inconclusive, the high court decided to defer the hearing for tomorrow.

Earlier on October 6, a similar sealed envelope containing the report prepared by the CBI was also submitted before the court.-By Our Reporter
