SHILLONG, OCT 4: Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office on Tuesday organised a state level programme on the launch of Summary Revision campaign at the Bharat Scouts& Guides hall in the presence of the stakeholders including political parties, educational institutions, youth organisations, people with disabilities.

Meghalaya CEO FR Kharkongor stressed that elections commission has launched a special summary revision programme with a focus from October 1 to October 31 on “ No Voter to be left behind” to encourage inclusive enrollment of all categories of eligible voters like youths turning 18 years as on January 1, 2017.

People with disabilities campaign dates have been fixed on 15th and 22 October where booth level agents (BLAs) of political parties are urged to encourage the never enrolled along with booth level officers (BLOs) deployed by the DEO to get themselves enrolled through Form 6.

Kharkongor stressed that new electors should fill all their forms in full to avoid rejection of claims and should take due care to provide authentic documents to support their claims, especially with regard to proof residence. He further stated that dual voters would be penalized and cited the arrest of dual voter in Garo hills who was detected recently and is now jailed. He urged such voter to file form 7 for deletion.

Kharkongor also encourage applicants to enter their claims online through national voters portal.

East Khasi hills DC PS Dkhar informed that they would concentrate on enrolling in low enrollment areas like Laitumkharh, Sohiong, Mawphlang, Nongrem and Mawryngkneng. The claims and objections would be disposed within 15 November and electoral roll would be published incorporating the supplementary list.

A presentation of SVEEP initiative like democracy canvas, election mascot, originally composed election songs, point to the future social media initiative, partnership with educational institution were also showcased in a detailed presentation.- By Our Reporter
