CM congratulates PM

SHILLONG, MAY 28: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma has assured the newly elected prime minister Narendra Modi that he would extend full cooperation and support to the new government at the centre even as he congratulated him for taking over as the country’s 15th Prime Minister.

In a letter written to Modi on Wednesday, Sangma said,  “I write this to convey the greetings and felicitations on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Meghalaya on your grand success in the elections and especially on your elevation to the august office of the Prime Minister of India. This truly establishes the credibility and character of our democracy,” Sangma said in a letter to the Prime Minister.”

Stating that the responsibility of this office is to deal with the many challenges the country is confronting, Sangma said, “I take this opportunity to assure you of our full support and cooperation.”

Expressing his keenness to work with the centre on matters of common concern, Sangma said, “Under your wise and able leadership, I am sure that relations between the Centre and the States will grow in mutual confidence in the larger interests of our nation.”

Pointing out that the North Eastern region in general and Meghalaya in particular have their own unique challenges as well as opportunities, Sangma said, “Together, we need to address these on utmost priority. I should be able to bring these to your personal attention at a more opportune time.”- By Our Reporter
