CM launches livestock mission in Chokpot

DSC_0164TURA, NOV 25: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul M Sangma, launched the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission and simultaneously laid the foundation stone for Multi Facility Centre at Warima in Chokpot Civil Sub-Division in the presence of local MLA and Chairman of the Meghalaya State Development Reforms Commission, Bluebell R Sangma, Deputy Commissioner in-charge of South Garo Hills, Ashish M Sangma,  SDO (Civil), Chokpot, ZJ Sangma, the district officials, local leaders and other dignitaries on 25 November.

Launching the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission and laying the foundation stone for the Multi Facility Centre, Chief Minister, Dr. Mukul M Sangma said that with a view to bring more developmental schemes, this year the Govt. had sanctioned Rs. 1400 crores under MGNREGS. In order to increase the earning of the people, he had sanctioned funds for this region under the Chief Minister’s Piggery and Livestock Mission and informed the gathering that he had increased the number of beneficiaries from around 500 to 2000 households under Chokpot Sub-Division.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister urged the people to restraint from anti-element activities like threatening, extortion, etc. and sought their cooperation in implementing developmental schemes in the region. Further, the Chief Minister lauded the Govt. officials for their dedicated services for the people of the region despite hurdles, dangers, etc. He also promised to set up a Community College in the Sub-Division and the asked the local leaders to identify the site for the purpose.

Local MLA and the Chairman of MSDRC, Bluebell R Sangma, while addressing the gathering, lauded the Chief Minister for his ceaseless efforts to bring development to the people of this region.

Deputy Commissioner in-charge of South Garo Hills, Ashish M Sangmawhile delivering the welcome address informed the gathering that the sanction had been accorded for 1007 piggery sheds in this financial year.

On the day, the Chief Minister also distributed the cheques for the beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Livestock Mission.

The function was presided over by the SDO (Civil), ZJ Sangma and the vote of thanks was proposed by the BDO, Chokpot, Diganto Hajong.
