CMJ Univ students’ serve deadline to govt

DSCF2756SHILLONG, JUNE 3: Even as the CMJ University students have questioned as to why Meghalaya governor RS Mooshahary- who is the Visitor of the university- took so long to blow the whistle at the irregularities and anomalies of the now defamed university, the students have also given deadline to the Meghalaya government till June 6 to revalidate their certificates and find an alternative arrange for pursuing their studies.

The CMJ university students have warned that if the government fails to respond to their demand within the stipulated timeframe they will be forced to take matters on their own hand and fight for their democratic rights’.

After their meeting, the CMJ university students told reporters,  “If the government fails to meet our demand then we will be compel to take our own course of action.” They also criticized the state education minister for his refusal to meet them.

The students said  they also want to know what the state government is doing considering that it is also responsible for passing the CMJ University Act in 2009.

“We have trusted the Meghalaya government hoping that the university will give us a bright future but only to be duped by both,” the students thundered.

The students also said that the CMJ University controversy has serious cast a dark shadow at Shillong, which was considered the hub of education in northeast India.

The students also volunteered to give the data of the CMJ University students to the Meghalaya government if it fails to get the data.

The CMJ University  students also had a meeting with the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) at the Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) to discuss on accommodating the affected.

KSU president Daniel Khyriem said the MLCU is ready to accommodate the students as per the availability of courses. He said, “The University will accommodate those students as per availability of the courses in the institute.”

Khyriem also said that the Meghalaya government cannot wash its hands and ignore the CMJ University students’ since it is also equally responsible for the mess the university is now adding the affected students, especially those looking out for jobs and other admissions, are in quandary since the certificates have been declared invalid.

Khyriem also informed that the KSU will soon meet the chief minister and the Governor to discuss on the fate of the students and try to find a solution.- By Our Reporter
