TURA, APR 8: The rage of the Congress against the union minister Giriraj Singh for his racist remark against the AICC president Sonia Gandhi continues in the state as the Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress led by its president Richard Marak burnt his effigy in front of the BJP office at Tura.

The effigy was burned to protest against Singh racist remarks.

Marak said that the image of India as a secular nation has been tarnished because such racist leaders are the representatives of the people, He said that Giriraj Singh’s statement is not only racist but is also sexist and should be considered an attack against all the women of the country.

Marak said,” We should not forget that Sonia Gandhi’s husband and mother-in-law died for the nation. And despite her losses she continues to lead the oldest political party in the country, a party that played a major part in the independence struggle and the nation building to ensure that the people of India under any form of dictatorship of communal forces embodied by such leaders as Giriraj Singh, he said.

Marak said that prime minister Narendra Modi should take moral responsibility for the statements of his minister and dismiss him immediately from the government and should be banned from parliament.

Marak concluded by saying that it should also be  put on record that not all Indians are racists or bigots and as many does not subscribe to Giriraj Singh’s views,– From Our Correspondent
