SHILLONG, JAN 18: Hynniewtrep National People’s Front (HNPF) members apprehended one Haimon Malang on Friday for conning people in Jaintia Hills from DC office and handed him over to the office of the SP in West Jaintia hill.
Later the SP’s office handed Malang to the Jowai police. He has been remanded to five day’s police custody.
According to HBPF president Ronnie Ranee he was informed about the incidents last year and in December they had picked him up but left him with the promise that he would return back the money he had conned from people with a promise that he will give them jobs.
Ranee informed that Malang had conned fourteen people and duped them of Rs 20 lakh with a promise that soon they will be employed in the forest department. He also clamed to be a forest department officer.- By Our Reporter
