SHILLONG, APR 21: Two persons including a police constable was arrested along with heroin from East Jaintia Hills District, police said.
A battalion constable of West Jaintia Hills District along with his accomplice was arrested yesterday in a special operation and 3.33 gms Heroin was recovered from their possession. Heroin was meant for sale to innocent youth in Jaintia Hills, they said.
The constable identified as Chwamiki Lyngdoh (28), who is already under suspension travelled from Jowai in police uniform to avoid checking by the authorities.
However, a joint team of ANTF East Jaintia Hills, Lumshnong PS, Umkiang PP & Ratacherra CP worked in close coordination and foiled their attempt.
The other arrested accused was identified as Wyrai Chyrmang (21) of Mihmyntdu, West Jaintia Hills District.
Both the vehicle & consignment have been seized. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
