Constitution of Khasi medicine commission tabled in KHADC

Shillong,  Oct  16: The report of the constitution of the “Khasi Traditional Medicine Commission (KTMC)” as per Section 3 of the KHADC (Protection and Promotion of the Khasi Traditional Medicine) Act, 2011 was tabled Tuesday by the Deputy Chief Executive Member Remington Pyngrope on the first day of the KHADC autumn session.

“The KTMC was constituted in accordance with the Assam-Meghalaya Autonomous District Council (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951 as amended,” Pyngrope informed the house.

Pyngrope said the committee will be headed by ICARE president Toki Blah as chairman while KHADC secretary W Syiemlieh will be the secretary. The other members of the committee are Dr Alka Kharsati, Dr Boss Myrthong, Dr John Kharduit, Dr Philing Rynjah, Dr Jenifer B Basaiawmoit, Dr Sandi Syiem, Dr B Kharbuli, Dr EH Kharkongor, Mrs Patricia Mukhim and Dr Don Syiem.

The amendment bills which was introduced during the first day of the council autumn session are United Khasi-Jaintia Hills District (Establishment of Town Committee) (Second Amendemnt) Bill, 2012, United Khasi-Jaintia Hills District Council (Management and Control of Forest) (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2012 and KHAD (Trading by Non-Tribals) (Amendment) Rules, 2012.

The discussion on the various amendment bills which was table in the house would be held during the final day of the council’s autumn session on Thursday.- By Our Reporter
