Cop’s death: Bullet in back

SHILLONG, JAN 31: The medical report of the Patharkmah CHC in Ri Bhoi district reportedly states that Sub Inspector PJ Marbaniang who police claim committed suicide has bullet injuries from the ‘back of the head’.

“The entry wound (1.5cm) was from the back of head and exit wound (2cm) from fore head,” a medical report from the Patharkhmah CHC said.

PJ Marbaniang, who was the officer-in-charge of Patharkhmah outpost, was found critically injured with a gunshot on his head in his official quarter on January 24, hours after detaining several illegal coal trucks.

Police claim he had allegedly shot himself with his service revolver.

According to the medical report, it states – “Marbaniang was brought unconscious to the emergency room of the hospital at around 9.30 pm on January 24, 2015 adding on admission his pulse and BP was not recorded.”

The report however states – ‘He (Marbaniang) is referred to GNRC, Guwahati for further investigation and treatment.’– By Our Reporter
