Shillong, Oct 26 The Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) chairman Champion R Sangma was produced in the lower court Friday wherein it was decided that the next hearing for framing of charges against him will be on November 8 .
Sangma, appearing slimmer, seemed to be happy as he waited in the dock for the District and Session Judge Giri to arrive.
The court will read out charges leveled against him on November 8, 2012. If Sangma pleads guilty he will be punished as per law.
However, if Sangma wants to contest, which sources say seem likely, the prosecution will have to prove the case.
Sources also told www.ohmeghalaya.com that the GNLA chief has written a letter to the DM Wahlang, ADM requesting that his statements during the ongoing enquiry be recorded, but has not received any reply..
In Friday’s hearing, advocate IC Jha represented the state government and advocate Sujit Dey for the GNLA leader. – By Our Reporter
