COVID-19: 11 deaths, 569 new cases

SHILLONG, JUL30: The state on Friday recorded 11 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,073 in the state.

 

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 7 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 each from West Jaintia Hills district and East Garo Hills district.

 

He said the state also detected 569 new cases. These include 237 in East Khasi Hills, 77 Ri Bhoi, 72 West Jaintia Hills, 67 West Garo Hills, 39 West Khasi Hills, 22 East Jaintia Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 9 South West Garo Hills, 9 South Garo Hills and 6 East Garo Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 517 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

 

Of these, 206 are from East Khasi Hills, 181 West Garo Hills, 24 North Garo Hills, 22 West Jaintia Hills, 18 South West Garo Hills, 14 West Khasi Hills, 13 East Garo Hills, 13 South Garo Hills, 9 Ri Bhoi, 9 South West Khasi Hills and 8 East Jaintia Hills.

So far, the state has detected a total of 64,314 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,791 are active cases, 57,450 recovered and 1,073 deaths.

 

With 2,131 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 898 cases and Ri Bhoi with 716 cases.

 

There are 663 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 497 West Khasi Hills, 331 South West Khasi Hills, 180 East Jaintia Hills, 125 North Garo Hills, 94 East Garo Hills, 87 South Garo Hills and 69 South West Garo Hills.
