COVID-19: 61 new cases, 3 deaths

SHILLONG, OCT 18: The state on Monday recorded three more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,438 in the state.

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, the cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district.

Dr War said the state has also detected 61 new COVID-19 cases. These include 38 in East Khasi Hills, 13 West Khasi Hills, 8 Ri Bhoi and 2 West Jaintia Hills.

Dr War also informed that 126 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

Of these, 56 are from East Khasi Hills, 55 West Khasi Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 4 Ri Bhoi, 2  East Jaintia Hills and 1 each in South West Khasi Hills, 1 West Garo Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.

So far, the state has detected a total of 83,014 COVID-19 cases out of which 777 are active cases, 80,799 recovered and 1,438 deaths.

With 486 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 160 cases and West Jaintia Hills 50.

There are 42 in Ri Bhoi, 20 West Garo Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 7 East Jaintia Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.
