COVID: 2 deaths, 275 new cases

SHILLONG, JAN 18: The state on Tuesday recorded two new COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,492 even as 275 persons have tested positive for the virus taking the total active cases to 1,318.

 

Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the two cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district.

 

He said of the 275 new cases, 193 were detected from East Khasi Hills, 35 West Garo Hills, 20 Ri Bhoi, 9 West Khasi Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 4 South West Khasi Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 162 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 142 are from East Khasi Hills, 11 West Garo Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Jaintia Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 86,807 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,318 are active cases, 83,997 recovered and 1,492 deaths.

 

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 991 followed by West Garo Hills 131, Ri Bhoi 84,  East Jaintia Hills 28, West Jaintia Hills 28, West Khasi Hills 27, South West Khasi Hills 10,  South West Garo Hills 7, South Garo Hills 5, EastGaro Hills 4 and North Garo Hills 3.
