Criminal gang busted from William

Tura, Jul 28: Meghalaya police on Thursday busted a notorious criminal gang comprising of cadres from militant outfit – A’chik National Liberation Cooperative Army (ANLCA) from Williamnagar in East Garo Hills.

Mithun Momin of ANLCA was arrested along with other gang members from a rented accommodation, where he was staying for the past several months. He had managed to give a slip to the police and has been hiding in Williamnagar and has been carrying out his anti-social activities in East and North Garo Hills region of Meghalaya.

Police said that he was arrested based on source inputs in the wee hours of the midnight around 2 am on Thursday. The gang has been extorting money from businessmen from different places of East and North Garo Hills.

“He has been actively in extortion and other illegal activities and we are aware that the group has guns though the same is yet to be recovered. The four are currently being interrogated for information on their activities,” said Dalton Marak, superintendent of police North Garo Hills today.

The other gang members arrested are — Chengchak G Momin, Chingsan M Marak and Nasiruddin Marak.
