CS warns of action against employees who do not attend office during bandh

Shillong, Oct 8: At the backdrop of the twelve hours bandh called Tuesday by the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) in five districts of Meghalaya, Meghalaya chief secretary WMS Pariat issued order to administrative heads of different departments and deputy commissioners and Superintendent of Police of all the districts to ensure that offices functions normally.

In a written communication issued Monday to the DCs and SPs of East, West Khasi hills, Ri-Bhoi, South-West Khasi hills, East and West Jaintia hills districts, Pariat has directed them to ensure normally during the HANM bandh.

The HANM has given a twelve-hour bandh call on Tuesday beginning from 5 am to 5pm to pressurize the government to put pressure on Assam government to release their president who have been arrested by the Assam police allegedly for his involvement in arson case.

Pariat has directed the district heads to take all measure required to ensue normalcy in their districts and government offices must function normally. The directive says that all government employees must attend office failing which action may be taken.

All the district offices have also been directed to submit report of percentage of attendance through fax to the government by 11 am and 2 pm.-By Our Reporter
