CSWO condemns attack

SHILLONG, FEB 19: The CSWO today condemned the attack on the NCP Candidate Jonathone N Sangma and his securities and supporters near Sawilgre, East Garo Hills District, which has also lead to death of the candidate and his security and supporters.

The CSWO sends deepest of condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in such a cowardly attack.
“It is shocking that after such a serious attack, no Police could provide information to many media who were seeking information in such a serious case which points to a fact that there could well be some strong nexus link involving police in the attack. Police should know they work for the State and are paid with public money and do not at all owe allegiance only to Politicians and public should not have to run around for collection of information,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement issued here on Monday.
The CSWO also demands an immediate inquiry into the whole incident and also demands an answer from the Election Commission as to why there was failure by authorities in providing inputs and security on such threats and terror in an area just 13-14 km away from Williamnagar., East Garo Hills District, Meghalaya.
“This failure has led to loss of Human lives and the organization demands immediate answers. There should be an Investigation by sincere persons  to ascertain who originally shared the poster which threatens people from voting for Jonathan and why the authorities did not take note of the Poster/s,” she said.
Terror threats should not be allowed to grow in Meghalaya and people should not be terrorized by anyone. Any nexus prevailing should be exposed immediately, she added
