Curfew extended in EKH from May 31

SHILLONG, MAY 29: East Khasi Hills district administration on Saturday extended the curfew in the entire district with effect from 5 am of May 31 to 5 am of June 7.

 

The order was issued in view of the continuous large numbers of COVID-19 cases being detected in the district and the hospital bed occupancy nearing saturation.

 

In her order, the district magistrate also informed that inter-district movement of persons is not permitted. No person is to step out without valid reasons.

 

Vehicles plying without passes will be liable for strict penalties. Any one in defiance of orders is liable for arrest, she said adding opening of essential shops will be regulated during the period.

 

The order also said in-situ construction works for government and private projects that do not involve movement of labour are permitted, with due permission from this office.

 

Political, public, social and religious gatherings including conferences, meetings & trainings, weddings and sporting activities are not permitted.

 

Only Central Government offices as notified by Home (Political) Department and State Government offices as notified by Personnel & A.R (A) Department are permitted to open, at limited strength.

 

State Bank of India, Main Branch, Laitumkhrah Branch and Secretariat Branch in Shillong shall function with limited staff for the purpose of Government transactions only. They will furnish IDs to serve as car passes.

 

All other banks in East Khasi Hills District are permitted to open only on the 31st May, 2021 and 1st June, 2021 with limited staff for the purpose of urgent transactions only. Banks will comply to protocols

 

All Post Offices are permitted on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th June, 2021 with limited staff. They shall close by 4:00 PM. They will furnish IDs to serve as car passes for the 3 (three) days.

 

E-Commerce activities, courier service and home delivery services will be regulated.

 

Hardware stores will be permitted strictly on need basis and with prior permission from this office and will be regulated.

 

Funeral gatherings should be restricted to 10 persons only, with prior permission from this office.
