SHILLONG, JAN 18: East Khasi Hills district administration on Wednesday prohibited any sort of agitational programme by any individual or organization in the district.
The order issued by the deputy commissioner Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu said information was received that agitation programmes like hunger strike, procession rally etc are being organized by some organization in the district.
“…I am satisfied that such agitation programmes if held, is likely to create law and order problem, breach of peace and tranquility resulting to loss of life and property, affecting the smooth conduct of the General Elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Constituency 2023, if not prohibited immediately,” it said.
