SP mother’s house attacked by GNLA

Shillong, Nov  09: The Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) attacked the residence of the mother of East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Jerry F.K.Marak in Williamnagar in the wee hour of Friday morning when its cadres spray bullets on the wall of the residence and even hid IED bomb.

It is reported the incident took place at about 1 am. But Marak’s mother was not there only his sister, brother-in-law and their children were staying and were fast asleep. However, all of them were safe.

Police said that the GNLA led by one Baltus Sangma entered the compound and sprayed bullet indiscriminately and before they left the place the IED was hidden in a place which was not easily visible.  Under the cover of darkness, the militants fled.

As soon as Marak was informed he rushed from his police quarter along with SWAT commandos to his mother’s residence and combed the entire compound. The IED bomb that was covered with grass was found only when it was daybreak.

As the Williamnagar police do not have bomb disposal squad it requested the army to send their disposal squad to diffuse the IED bomb. The bomb is likely to be diffused on Saturday.  By Our Reporter
