SHILLONG, AUG 26: ‘Phantom’ also fearfully dubbed as ‘Bah Jyllud’, who is a well known criminal, was arrested from Demseiniong on Tuesday for being involved in several theft cases including molesting women by entering their houses.
Phantom, whose original name is David Lyngdoh (28), was nabbed by the special cell of East Khasi hills police from one of the tea stalls in Demseiniong.
After interrogation, Phantom revealed the place he was staying and took the police to his residence at Langkyrding Shyiap. During the raid, police also seized many gym equipments from his residence.
According to police, Lyngdoh had bought these gym equipments from the money he had stolen from people houses in the different parts of the city.
Police also seized a Maruti Zen having registration number ML 06 – 1651 which was used by Lyngdoh when conducting his criminal activities.
A senior district police official said, “Lyngdoh was wanted by the police for several theft and burglary related cases across the city and for his involvement in molesting women in different parts of the city, the recent the latest one being against a maid servant of a doctor in Nongrim Hills.”
Police informed Lyngdoh so far has as many as 20 theft cases besides molesting women registered in the different police stations – Madanrting, Laitumkhrah, Rynjah and Laban police station.- By Our Reporter
