Entry, exit infrastructures

SHILLONG, JULY 20:  The state government is optimist that the setting up of infrastructures in the entry/exit points will kick-off soon even as it directed the line departments to complete auditing the strength of their manpower.

A review meeting on the measures taken to implement the comprehensive mechanism to deal with the issue of influx and illegal immigration was chaired by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday.

“Initiatives are on to ensure infrastructures in the entry/exit points start happening,” Sangma told reporters after the meeting. All line departments which include labour and revenue have been instructed to complete auditing of their manpower, he said.

According to him, the departments have also been directed to complete the auditing with regards to their wherewithal whether they are capable of implementing the whole responsibility assigned to them. Asked on the status of the land acquisition, the chief minister informed that the government has so far received the social impact assessment (SIA) report on in respect of Malidor in East Jaintia Hills district.

He added with regards to the different sites, the SIA reports are still being awaited by the government.-By Our Reporter
