Ex-Cong MDC joins AITC

SHILLONG, DEC 10: Former Congress MDC from Jowai Central Awhai Andrew Shullai on Saturday joined the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

Shullai was welcomed by AITC leader and Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma, AITC state president Charles Pyngrope, Opposition chief whip Geogre Lyngdoh and others.

Making a vow to the people of Jowai, Mukul Sangma said, “The building works of the B.Ed college in Jowai is yet to be commissioned. We promise, on behalf of Meghalaya TMC, that we will complete the commissioning in the very first month of taking charge of the government.”

The leader of Opposition lambasted the ruling dispensation over the bungling state of governance. He mentioned, “I meet businessmen across the state who talk about losing opportunities. Even the local, small-time contractors are losing employment. The NPP-led MDA government only achieved a milestone of curbing the circulation of money in the hands of the people.”

Expressing confidence over the huge gathering of supporters, George B Lyngdoh, who is also Umroi MLA said, “The people of Meghalaya lost hope with the ruling government, seeing that the state of affairs remain perilous. I came here to instill confidence about Meghalaya TMC’s vision to bring good governance to the state. As the election is around the corner, let us all pledge to support Andrew to see a new government that will stand with you throughout the tenure, not the government that fools you during elections.”

Affirming that a progressive change lies ahead, Andrew Shullai said, “I alone will not be able to do anything, but us together, me and you, through the support of TMC, we are determined and hopeful that we will bring a positive change which will start from our constituency Jowai and spread throughout the state as a whole.”
