FIR against hate pamphlets

SHILLONG, MAY 14: An FIR was lodge by the Tura parliamentary Returning Officer (RO) Pravin Bakshi with the Tura police station for alleged distribution of hate pamphlets in Garo hills by anti-social elements after the AICC general secretary BK Hariprasad filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India.

Earlier, Bakshi had also filed an FIR against Congress candidate Dikkanchi  D Shira after BJP had filed a complaint stating that the Congress candidate had violated the code of conduct in an elections rally at  Daddengre for making ‘communal speech.’ The issue is under investigation.

The alleged hate pamphlets circulated targets minority religion by stating that it is a ‘Samasya’ (problem) and the mission of distribution is termed as ‘Gharwapsi.’

Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) FR Kharkongor said that the Tura police will now investigate the hate pamphlets and try to identify the source of the pamphlet and accordingly take action.

With regard to the FIR against the Congress candidate, Kharkongor informed that now the candidate has to give her statement with the Investigating Officer of the case.-By Our Reporter
