SHILLONG, APR 8: The first Assam Rifles female medical officer Dr Mary Hranngul has been promoted to the rank of commandant on April 8. Commissioned on 18 Jan 2003, Hranngul is the eldest daughter of (Late) Rev Hranngul and Kimi Hranngul of Madanriting, Shillong.
She is an alumni of St. Mary’s College, Shillong and Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati.
Dr Mary Hranngul is also the only medical officer till now to have been awarded a police medal for Gallantry by the President of India during the Republic Day 2012 for her active role in counter insurgency operations in Manipur.
During her 13 years of glorious career, she has served in Assam, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland in various capacity and now is serving in HQ DGAR as staff officer.- By Our Reporter
