SHILLONG, JULY 6: Five persons, which includes four minors, were admitted in Ganesh Das  and Civil hospitals after consuming noodles on Sunday. The incident took place after the five from the same family started complaining of severe headache and vomiting soon after they ate the cooked “Yummy” noodles prepared by their mother on Sunday afternoon.

While three of them were admitted in Ganesh Das hospital, the other two were rushed to Shillong Civil hospital for immediate medical attention.

The five have been identified as Dilnaris Kharkongor (18), Balahunlang Kharkongor (13), Iaineh Skhem Kharkongor (11), Mebanshkem Kharkongor (8) and Mewanskhem Kharkongor (5).

According to the mother, Yummy, a noodle which is pre-boiled and pre-fried ready to eat snack or a cooked meal as per choice, has been her children’s favourite.

“I use to buy dozens of this noodles at home,” she said while stating that unfortunately yesterday when she cooked and served it to them, they started complaining of severe stomach pain.

Sources said that all five have been kept under medical observation.

Yummy noodles is one among the mouth-watering noodles under various brands which the state government has sent for testing at the Guwahati-based Public Health Laboratory after Maggi samples were tested ‘unsafe’.

Recently, a two months ban on ‘Maggi Noodles’ in Meghalaya was also announced by the state government after Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) was found in the samples.- By Our Reporter
