Former GHADC chief along with others join BJP

SHILLONG, NOV 28: Former GHADC chief Dipul M Marak on Monday formally joined the BJP. Two MDCs – Sukharam K Sangma and Albert Marak, senior advocate VGK Kynta, R Jana Nongbet and others were also welcomed to the BJP by the state president Ernest Mawrie in the presence of national secretary Rituraj Sinha, Meghalaya In-charge Chuba Ao, former cabinet minister AL Hek and party leaders and functionaries.

In his speech, Dipul Marak said that today is a proud moment for those who join the BJP as it is for the greater interest for the people of Meghalaya and to all the districts of the state.

Marak said that the Khasi, Jaintia and Garo people of Meghalaya should know that they have joined the BJP in order to make the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which is ‘development for everyone’ come true in the state.

“Things have changed every day but even after attaining 50 years of statehood the state still lacks in many aspects which is why in order to take the state forward, we need to look and support BJP as it is only the party that works for the betterment of the people” said Marak.

Speaking during the meeting, senior advocate VGK Kynta said that his decision to join the BJP in order to get a platform to raise his voice on issues pertaining the interest of the people and the state of Meghalaya as a whole.

Kynta said that people will be questioning his move to join the BJP but he is of the opinion that BJP is the biggest platform to raise his voices as he is impressed by the activities of the party especially with the activities that benefit the people especially the poor and downtrodden.

“It has been my motto, my wish that if you want to swim, swim in a big ocean not in small muddy ponds as I consider all regional parties or MDA as parties swimming in muddy ponds” said Kynta.

Kynta said that till today the state depends on the central government which is run by the BJP hence being a vocal person, it will be more appropriate to use the BJP as the platform to raise his voice against corruption and black money for the interest of the state.

He added that it is a fact that Khasi do not file income tax returns and for that reason the state has got so many millionaires whose wealth is unaccounted for.

“I feel that in order to be responsible citizens it is high time that we file income tax returns to be able to contribute to the nation” he added.
