Four GNLA militants killed

TURA, SEPT 13: In a gun battle between two militant groups on Saturday four suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were killed at Bolmaram jungle, near Williamnagar in East Garo Hills.

Police said that firing between newly the floated A’chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) and GNLA lasted for an hour. However, they were not able to locate the spot. Police claim that one of the cadres killed in the ensuing firing was a ULFA militant, who is identified as one Rabha.

Meanwhile, angry villager managed to nab a suspected cadre of A’chik National Army (ANC) at Chokpot in South Garo Hills. Three others militants, however, managed to escape and interestingly one of them ran up to the police station and was saved.

He was beaten up by the mob seriously.  The cadre identified as Rapseng Ch. Marak later died at Chokpot PHC.

A group of five militants had served demand note. The villagers, however, got angry and chased them. They recovered the car in which the militants had come to the village. The Maruti car  bearing no AS -19 -7576 was torched by the villagers.
