Violence: BJP blames govt

SHILLONG,  JUNE 27:  The Meghalaya unit of the BJP has accused the Congress led MUA II coalition government of the state of failing to provide security to the minority as well as the indigenous people in Garo hills districts. The accusation was made based on the revelation by chief minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday that the migrant labourers left Garo Hills based on the advisory issued by the state government.

Meghalaya unit of the BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty said the law and order situation in Garo Hills has gone from bad to worst since the MUA II government came to power. He said that it is the responsibility of the government to provide security to the people of the state.

Chakraborty also said, “Peace must be brought back to Garo hills at any cost.”

The Communist Party of India (CPI) Meghalaya unit has also held and emergent meeting recently and expressed concern over the prevailing law and order situation in Garo Hills. The party has asked the state government to take steps for rehabilitating the affected people.-By Our Reporter
