TURA, JULY 11: A personal security officer (PSO) of GNLA commander-in-chief Sohan D Shira was shot dead by police during an anti-insurgent operation in Durama forest on Friday morning.The PSO identified as Sadam Sangma was killed in an encounter with the police in Durama forest during an attacked on Sohan’s camp, a senior police official informed.
Sangma belonged to the 3rd batch of the GNLA from Nengmandalgre village, under Williamnagar in East Garo hills district, the officer informed.
According to the police officer during the encounter there was ten GNLA heavily armed militants including Sohan. He, however, informed that Sohan managed to escape under the cover of fire.
The anti-insurgency operations was still continuing.- By Our Reporter
