GNLA talk: CM guarded

SHILLONG, FEB 18: A day after the GNLA issued a press statement saying that it is willing to come forward for talks provided its chairman Champion R Sangma is released from jail, Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma gave a guarded response saying that the government will have to evaluate the current situation before making a decision.

Speaking at the inauguration of the multicultural centre in Williamnagar on Tuesday, Mukul said that the government would have to evaluate the current situation before they take a call on the GNLA willingness to come forward for a talk.”

Sangma said, “We need to evaluate everything in hand before moving forward. Let us see how things turns out.”. He, however,  refused to comment further when asked if he was happy by the GNLA statement stating that it is willing to come forward for talk provided its chairman is released.- By Our Reporter
