GNLA guns down businessman

Shillong, August 7 : Perturbed by the failure to follow its diktat, the outlawed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) shot down businessman at point blank range on Tuesday morning in North Garo hills district even as it abducted another man.

The businessman fifty-eight year Nitesh Shah, who trades in ginger has was pulled out of his shop and shot dead by the GNLA cadres. The abducted is said to be Rupesh Bihari.

According to eyewitness, who refused to be named, the incident took place at around 8 am on Tuesday morning.

 

Police said there were two bullets holes in the body; one at the back and another in front on the chest, while two empty rounds of carbine cartridge were also recovered.

Sources informed that the GNLA had demanded money from Shah, but when he refused to oblige, the outfit  killed him.

It is believed that the Area Commander of the outfit, Chinang aka ‘Laden’ was the brain behind the killing. Police have intensified their search operation in the areas. By Our Reporter
