SHILLONG, FEB 4: A GNLA militant identified as Reading M Sangma was killed during an encounter with the police on Wednesday night at Santogre village while some others were injured but managed to escape.
Meghalaya IG (operations) GHP Raju informed that the injured GNLA militants escaped towards Tochapara and operation to nab them is going on. He said the encounter took place between the South West Garo hils police and the GNLA militants numbering around seven of them.
The police managed recovered from the site of encounter one 7.65mm pistol, one 7.65mm magazine, 2 live rounds of 7.65mm, two empty cases of 7.65mm, seven empty cases of 7.62 39mm AK ammo, one GNLA ID card of Reading M Sangma, one black bag containing hair oil, tooth brush, body lotion and soap, one small diary containing phone numbers, one scarf and one torch light.-By Our Reporter
