SHILLONG, DEC  8: Among the awardees in this year’s “North East Award on Peace, Social Service, Youth & Education and Tribal Literature 2014” that was held on  Saturday at Christ School (International), Nongsder, Umiam, Meghalaya is a gold smith form Assam.

The goldsmith Amrit Kumar shared the dais with the other renowned personalities/institution who were conferred the awards are Amrit Kumar Goldsmith (Assam) – “Peace Award 2014”, Fr. (Dr.) Jose Chunkapura SDB (Meghalaya) – “Social Service Award 2014”, Dr. Donald Kosha (Manipur) – “Tribal Literature Award” and Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) Shillong – “Youth and Education Award 2014”

Meghalaya & Mizoram governor Dr. KK Paul, who was the chief guest at this year’s award giving ceremony, also distributed the awards to the four eminent awardees.

In keeping with the spirit of Christ School International and Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC), a set of awards has been instituted by the two institutions to honour individuals and institutions that excel in the promotion on Peace, Social Service, Youth & Education and Tribal Literature.
