Govt examining demand for new districts, blocks

SHILLONG, NOV 10: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the government will take a call after examining all aspects of the demand for creation of new districts and new blocks in the state.

“These are obviously very big decisions to make and we have to see all aspects and examine all areas. We are not undermining the demands made by the citizens of the state,” Sangma told reporters.

When asked, the chief minister refused to give the number of the new districts and C&RD blocks to be created by the government.

“We have inaugurated the Rambrai C&RD block and Siju C&RD block but it is not appropriate for me to give the list right now but I will make sure that all of you are informed when the inauguration takes place,” he said.

“As a government obviously we have to take all factors into mind while taking a decision and hence for district we will only take a call after examining everything. So as of now we are still examining those decisions,” the chief minister added.
