SHILLONG, APR 8: Minister in-charge Health and Family Welfare, AL Hek on Wednesday said the state government will leave no stone unturned to combat against the COVID-19.
The minister’s statement came after he had visited the Jowai, West Jaintia Hills and Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills to assess the preparedness of the health authorities in the two districts.
Hek visited the hospitals and other centres earmarked for admitting, treating, and managing of COVID-19 patients.
On returning from the two districts, the minister also held a meeting with health officials in the Shillong civil hospital, which was also attended by the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said that the state government especially the health department is fully geared to face any eventuality. “We will not leave any stone unturned to combat COVID-19,” he assured.
The minister further informed that not a single positive case has been detected in the state so far. “A total of 111 persons have been tested and all results were negative,” he said.
Earlier, the health minister also reviewed the preparedness of the hospitals and heath centres in Nongstoin and Mairang in West Khasi Hills District.
Dr War said that during the visit to various hospitals in the state, the department witnessed “dedication, commitment and sincerity” among the health workers from the doctors to the grade-IV staffs, to prevent the virus from entering the state.
