Govt seeks 4-5 lakh doses of vaccines

SHILLONG, MAY 26: Health Minister AL Hek on Wednesday informed that the state government has requested the Centre to provide another 4-5 lakh doses of vaccines to the state.

 

“Now, we are asking for another 4-5 lakh doses of vaccines from the Government of India. I recently had a conversation with the union health minister and he told me that vaccines will be provided to the states according to the number of cases and based on the population,” Hek told reporters.

 

Asked, the health minister informed that the 85,000 doses of vaccines are available for the 45years and above and 23,000 doses for the 18-44 age group.

Meanwhile, 29,301 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 19,475 had received the second dose, while 82,194 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 26,473 got the second dose as on Wednesday.

 

Moreover, 2,61,459 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 28,254 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the state.
