Govt to release pension soon

SHILLONG, APR 20: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today assured that the government will ensure speedy release of the pension entitlements to over 50,000 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Social Assistance Scheme to the infirm, single mothers and people with disabilities.

Replying to a query raised by Congress MLA from Mahendraganj Dikkanchi D Shira during the question hour in the Assembly, Sangma said, “We will find a way and try to release it as soon as possible.”

Stating that the scheme is also a priority of his government, he however said that the matter has been piling up for months and it is a huge task for the government as nothing was release during the last financial year.

“There are some financial constrains and we are equally concern and we are equally trying to work on this to see that it (pension) is release as soon as possible,” Sangma added.
