The state government has transferred Superintendent of Police (SP) Jagpal Singh Dhanoa from East Jaintia Hills to Ri Bhoi District.
This came a day after the Meghalaya High Court ordered for Singh’s immediate transfer from East Jaintia Hills after he failed to stop the illegal mining and transportation of coal that is going on in the district.
The notification issued by the Home (Police) department on Tuesday said Singh has been transferred and posted as SP, Ri Bhoi while Giri Prasad M, who is the current SP of Ri Bhoi District is transferred and posted as SP of East Jaintia Hills District.
