SHILLONG, JUNE 29: Two NGOs from Garo Hills – Achik Students Welfare Association (ASWA) and Tura Government College Students’ Union (TGCSU) today threatened to stage agitational programmes if the state government fails to address the admission problems faced by over 700 students of the region within five days.

In a letter to the chief minister Mukul Sangma on Thursday, ASWA chief organizing secretary Walman R Marak and TGCSU social welfare secretary Pangseng K Sangma said they have decided to serve a five-day ultimatum to the government to address problem of getting admission.

They said the 700 students who have passed their Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination are yet to be admitted in the government colleges till today.

“This is despite of the students having already applied for admission and even had to faced entrance test and interview,” the NGO leaders said.

Expressing regrets on the failure of the government to redress the issue, Marak and Sangma said they would be compelled to initiate protests against failure of the government.
