Guv seeks higher allocation of funds for Meghalaya

DSC_0003SHILLONG, JAN 29: Meghalaya Governor Ganga Prasad today met the Union Minister of Agriculture, Radha Mohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi.
During the discussion, the Union Minister stated that Meghalaya has the potential to also become an Organic State similar to Sikkim.
On behalf of the Government of Meghalaya, the Governor submitted two proposals to the Minister wherein one constitutes a holistic paradigm shift from the traditional approach to agriculture, to a system tailored to the mountain agriculture ecosystem of Meghalaya, while the other proposal is a request for higher allocation of funds and early release of the allocated funds to the State of Meghalaya.
While assuring that he would personally look into the matter,  Radha Mohan Singh said that the Government should also look into the proper utilisation of the allocated funds and that expenditure statements should be sent regularly so that the central ministry could revalidate the expenditures in a timely manner. The Union Minister also presented several tokens to His Excellency.
