Guv visits Nongstoin

SHILLONG, JAN 31: The Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad today visited Nongstoin, the district headquarters of West Khasi Hills.

During his interaction with the district officials at Nongstoin Circuit House, the Governor said that government officials, being the machineries of the Government at the grassroots level, need to dedicate themselves for the upliftment of the people of the District.

The Governor during the interaction also expressed his desire to promote agriculture in the State, and pointed out the need for the adoption of 18 days Vermi-Compost as organic manure to boost production and to avoid chemical fertilizer which might have harmful effects on the soil.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners, Extra-Assistant Commissioners and the District Heads of different Government departments. Power-point presentation was also made by various departments of the schemes and achievements taken up in the District.

Earlier, the Governor was received by the West Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner, Arunkumar Kembhavi and Superintendent of Police,  G. D. Kharwanlang.
