HNLC militant surrenders

SHILLONG, DEC 2: A Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) militant identified as  Omet Phanbuh alias Chris on Tuesday surrendered before the state police. He belongs to a 2002 batch

The 37 year old Phanbuh surrendered before the officer of SSP (Special Branch II) without arms, East Khasi Hills District SP M Kharkrang told reporters on Tuesday. Phanbuh revealed to the police that many more cadres have expressed their willingness to come over ground and join the main stream.

Kharkhrang, however, said, “But because of the strict observation kept by the senior cadres, these cadres were left with no option but to stay in-camp.” Stating that the HNLC present strength is just only 15-20 cadres, Kharkrang said most of them are sustaining by faming areca nuts and betel leaves.- By Our Reporter
