SHILLONG, MAR 3: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) said it has not authorize its two MLAs – Shakliar Warjri (Mawthadraishan) and Methodius Dkhar (Mawshynrut) – to support the National People’s Party (NPP) to form the government.
A letter to withdraw support was submitted to NPP national president Conrad K Sangma just a few hours after the two MLAs of the HSPDP extended their full support to the NPP.
“With due respect, the HSPDP did not authorize the two MLAs…to lend support to the formation of your government as we have seen through the press/media report…,” HSPDP president KP Pangniang said in a letter to Sangma.
Stating that the party has no role in the decision taken by the two MLAs, Pangniang declared and said, “Therefore, we withdraw our support to your party. Kindly act immediately so that the party withdraws support effective from today…”
The two HSPDP MLAs have extended the NPP after they quietly came out of the meeting held between leaders of the UDP, PDF, VPP, Congress, TMC and HSPDP to explore the possibility of forming a non NPP-BJP government.
Earlier after the meeting, Pangniang told reporters that the party leadership is not aware about the whereabouts of the two MLAs as both have switched off their phones.
“I cannot say the reason why they went missing from here and where they have gone. We cannot say anything right now as we are still here consulting with the other political parties but while the MLAs of other parties are here we found out that our two MLAs have gone missing from the meeting,” he said.
He said that the party will try to find them and resolve issues if there is any.
