SHILLONG, NOV 27: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) handed-over a ‘leak’ question-paper on Khasi subject set by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) for the ongoing class IX examination slated for Friday and demanded the  board to take immediate action .

Frequent leak of question papers has put MBOSE in a bad spot as similar incident had also taken place in recently in Garo hills during selection test for matriculation.

“We have handed over the question paper on Khasi subject (exam to be held on tomorrow) to the board as a proof that such leak takes place so that the authorities can take necessary action,” HYC vice president Donbok Kharlyngdoh said after meeting the board’s Executive Chairman EP Kharbih on Thursday.

According to Kharlyngdoh after receiving complaints from concerned parents that the HYC members took up the matter and was able to get hold a copy of question paper that was leaked. The incident took place here in the district of East Khasi hills.

Kharlyngdoh alleged that the HYC suspected well to do people is behind the unacceptable act as they try to make business by selling the question paper at the rate of Rs 1000.  He said, “We are proposing to demand re-examination on some of the schools of the district.”

Kharlyngdoh said, “The executive chairman of the board has accepted the paper and he has pointed out that one of the reason that the board could not take action was because there was no evidence.”

Kharlyngdoh also said that the reason behind the easy accessibility of question papers is that the system adopted is such that board issue the papers 10 days before the examination giving enough room for people with criminal intention to take advantage.

Kharlyngdoh said the authorities have assured to institute an inquiry into the incident and take the people responsible for such violation to task as per the law.- By Our Reporter
