HYNF demand government college status for U Tirot Sing College

Shillong, Nov 8:  Continuing their demand, the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) of western region and Mairang sub-division circle submitted a memorandum to Higher and Technical Education minister RC Laloo Thursday requesting that the government upgrade the present U Tirot Sing Memorial College to a government college.

The memorandum reminded Laloo that the HNYF had met former higher and technical minister RG Lyngdoh in 2007 and had raise the issue of upgradating the U Tirot Sing Memorial College but noting materialized. It also mentioned that chief minister Mukul Sangma had promised of upgrading the college during the U Tirot Sing Day on July 17.

The memorandum pointed out that Mawkyrwat College which was established after U Tirot Sing Memorial College has become a government college, while Nongstoin College will soon be given the status of government College. The HYNF said the U Tirot Sing Memorial College has been taking care of the education needs of the people of the area, however because of the financial constraint as the college is being managed by the Dorbar Shnong, it could not open the science stream and could not get qualified teachers.

The memorandum felt if the college is conferred with the government college status, it can raise its standard of teaching by hiring qualified teachers which will be a boon for the students coming from economically weak background in the area.-By Our Reporter

Yes. Same problem. No it is not elpacielsy common. Rather, it is uncommon for financial aid (assistance) to take longer than usual to get verified. All for good reasons. Genuine reasons. However, the government might well, now and then, throw a spanner in the works. That is when it might well take longer than usual. Although, the term usual’ is common these days. Red tape, I believe.Hope this Helps.
